Since starting his career as a pharmacist, he has continued to focus on public health by launching technology platforms focused on increasing access to care by expanding the role of the pharmacist.
As a pharmacist, James realized that he, and other pharmacists interacted with their patients seven times more than with their primary care providers. His interactions with patients proved to him first hand that patients were often frustrated with the complexity of the healthcare system and wanted a more simple approach to essential healthcare services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the healthcare system cracked due to potentially avoidable overcapacity issues — this accelerated James’ passion and enthusiasm for implementing health equity in every zip code.
James’ interactions in the pharmacy with patients proved to him first hand that patients wanted better, more convenient access to essential healthcare services.
With 93 percent of American’s living within 5 miles of a pharmacy, and pharmacists interacting with patients four times more than their primary care physician, he saw an opportunity.
With notable investors including Softbank and Techstars, James believes the Scripted team and investors are ready to build a simple, more sustainable future for healthcare that is centered around the patient with support by pharmacists. This will save the industry millions in wasteful spending, while improving patient engagement and outcomes.
